Karen Cothern is the General Manager for the Candlewood Suites in Smyrna Tn, working as a hands on Manager and does whatever it takes for our guest to have an exceptional experience.
Prior to joining Candlewood Suites, Karen started her hotel career working for the Double Tree by Hilton in Murfreesboro TN in 2004, as a Director of Catering with 168 rooms and approximately 4,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Worked here for over 5 years, managing banquets and working directly with each department in the hotel, as a liaison, for group business. Moved to Embassy Suites Nashville SE Murfreesboro and conference center in 2010. Started as an Executive Meeting Manager with sales up to 2.4 million dollars. Promoted to Corporate and Business Travel Sales Manager. Then promoted again to Director of Event Sales, responsible for 42,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and budgets for over 7 million dollars. She was voted as Manager of the Quarter and Manager of the year in 2014 at the Embassy Suites.
Karen’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach. She has been on the board of directors for the CVB and the BBB as well as a member and Secretary of Rotary International since 2005. Graduate of the Leadership Rutherford in 2007. Part of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce since 2004 and served as a Diplomat in 2010. She has done volunteer work for the United Way, Special kids, Habitat for Humanity and many other organization. Karen has two children and two grandchildren. In her free time, she likes to read, dance and cook.
